What is RFID technology?


RFID is mainly composed of electronic tags (Tag), RFID readers (Reader), RFID antennas and systems. Through wireless communication technology, the data in the electronic tags are transmitted to the RFID reader in a non-contact manner. RFID reading The device then sends the captured and recognized information to the back-end application system for further processing, use, or value-added use of these data.


In addition to the ability to respond through reading, the RFID device also adds a write function. Compared with traditional barcodes, the characteristics of RFID technology have many advantages, including fast scanning speed, simultaneous processing of multiple data, large storage space, and data can be updated and modified, can be reused, oil and stain resistance, etc. According to the analysis of the Economics Center of the Industrial Technology Research Institute, if you compare the processing efficiency of manual, barcode and RFID identification technology for one piece of data identification, the result shows that the manual is about 10 seconds, the scanning of the barcode takes 2 seconds, and the RFID identification is only time-consuming 0.1 seconds.


Since the popularization of RFID technology, RFID has a wide range of applications. Initially, it was mainly used in logistics. However, it can be seen in retail, logistics, transportation, medical treatment, manufacturing, etc. until now. Although RFID technology is no longer a new technology, with the advent of the era of wisdom, the industry has continued to develop various RFID application scenarios based on market demand in recent years. In terms of smart manufacturing, in view of the demand for resources and cost efficiency, various manufacturers have also begun to adopt RFID technology to achieve real-time location tracking, asset or personnel monitoring, process control on the production line, and supply chain management.


For example, in the production sites of the manufacturing industry in the past, there was a large proportion of manual interventions, which often required manual recording of large amounts of data, resulting in low accuracy and efficiency. Outside the factory, the establishment of an information sharing mechanism for the upstream and downstream of the supply chain has become the future development trend of intelligent manufacturing. Now suppliers can also use this to obtain product logistics and market sales information, and draw up factory production plans based on this, so as to reduce product inventory and control costs.


At every level of the product from upstream suppliers to downstream retailers, the flow of goods can be tracked through information sharing, so as to reduce cost losses caused by misdelivery, theft, and damage of goods.


RFID is a technology that makes data collection and processing faster and simpler, but how to apply the information more effectively in the future is the value.
