RFID technology builds the foundation of intelligent manufacturing

Smart manufacturing has always attached great importance to the transparency and instant connection of production information, and UHF RFID readers as the basis for data collection are indispensable in infrastructure deployment. And so that every item in the factory can have radio frequency identification (RFID) technology such as "identity card". With the price drop in recent years, it is also expected to explode in multi-scenario applications, such as the current production life of smart manufacturing. Periodic application, RFID technology can play a very important role in it.

What is RFID technology?

RFID is mainly composed of electronic tags (Tag), RFID readers (Reader), RFID antennas and systems. Through wireless communication technology, the data in the electronic tags are transmitted to the RFID reader in a non-contact manner. RFID reading The device then sends the captured and recognized information to the back-end application system for further processing, use, or value-added use of these data.

In addition to the ability to respond through reading, the RFID device also adds a write function. Therefore, in addition to sending messages to the outside world, the writable information becomes a storage space for related data, which also makes the object seem to have more similar "identity" The function of "certificate", in terms of product production life cycle applications, can record the price, assembly date, shipping factory, current location, etc. of the product.

Compared with traditional barcodes, the characteristics of RFID technology have many advantages, including fast scanning speed, simultaneous processing of multiple data, large storage space, and data can be updated and modified, can be reused, oil and stain resistance, etc. According to the analysis of the Economics Center of the Industrial Technology Research Institute, if you compare the processing efficiency of manual, barcode and RFID identification technology for one piece of data identification, the result shows that the manual is about 10 seconds, the scanning of the barcode takes 2 seconds, and the RFID identification is only time-consuming 0.1 seconds.

Since the popularization of RFID technology, RFID has a wide range of applications. Initially, it was mainly used in logistics. However, it can be seen in retail, logistics, transportation, medical treatment, manufacturing, etc. until now. Although RFID technology is no longer a new technology, with the advent of the era of wisdom, the industry has continued to develop various RFID application scenarios based on market demand in recent years. In terms of smart manufacturing, in view of the demand for resources and cost efficiency, various manufacturers have also begun to adopt RFID technology to achieve real-time location tracking, asset or personnel monitoring, process control on the production line, and supply chain management.

For example, in the production sites of the manufacturing industry in the past, there was a large proportion of manual interventions, which often required manual recording of large amounts of data, resulting in low accuracy and efficiency. Therefore, now manufacturers are also beginning to use the function of Honglu RFID reading and writing equipment that can write information, as long as the RFID reader is set up at the entrance and exit of the production line or on the production machine, when it is attached to the RFID electronic tag work order or raw material carrier After passing time, the UHF reader will automatically read and record all the information of the product from entering the workstation to leaving, as well as the specific processing information of the raw materials, etc., in addition to eliminating the previous manual scanning process, greatly reducing labor costs or In addition to the operating time, it can also ensure that the correct processing procedure is identified during mixed-line production.

Outside the factory, the establishment of an information sharing mechanism for the upstream and downstream of the supply chain has become the future development trend of intelligent manufacturing. Now suppliers can also use this to obtain product logistics and market sales information, and draw up factory production plans based on this, so as to reduce product inventory and control costs.

At every level of the product from upstream suppliers to downstream retailers, the flow of goods can be tracked through information sharing, so as to reduce cost losses caused by misdelivery, theft, and damage of goods.

RFID is a technology that makes data collection and processing faster and simpler, but how to apply the information more effectively in the future is the value. The large amount of RFID information generated by the close interconnection of various equipment and devices needs to be effectively managed and analyzed, and it has also prompted RFID manufacturers to continue to innovate to seize this wave of opportunities, such as the development of tags with higher memory capacity, software platforms with business intelligence layers, and Cloud solutions, etc. (such as: Honghui 340/380 is an open development environment based on the Android operating system, which supports HTTP POST communication, and can directly send tag data to the UHF RFID reader of the web URL), or further Fully integrated with IT systems such as ERP, MES, PLM, etc.
